Position Overview

We’re currently seeking a Controls Technician I for a high-tech manufacturing facility located in Holland, MI. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude who enjoy troubleshooting, calibrating, and maintaining automated systems in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor stand-alone PLC controllers and inspection logic.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and monitoring PLC programs (Mitsubishi) and HMI interfaces.
  • Support engineering teams with incident response and root cause analysis.
  • Maintain and document changes to control system configurations.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot control components such as:
  • Relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids
  • Servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives
  • Encoders, light controllers, and other devices
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Work closely with vendors and internal teams.
  • Complete required safety training and follow all safety protocols.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational Certificate or Associate Degree preferred (or equivalent hands-on experience).
Experience & Skills
  • 1–2+ years of experience with machinery operation or maintenance (especially automated systems).
  • Basic PLC knowledge preferred but not required.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to stay organized and manage time effectively.
  • Technically proficient and eager to learn and improve.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to be on-call, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to wear proper PPE at all times.
