Position Overview
We’re currently seeking a Controls Technician I for a high-tech manufacturing facility located in Holland, MI. This role is ideal for candidates with a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude who enjoy troubleshooting, calibrating, and maintaining automated systems in a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor stand-alone PLC controllers and inspection logic.
- Assist with troubleshooting and monitoring PLC programs (Mitsubishi) and HMI interfaces.
- Support engineering teams with incident response and root cause analysis.
- Maintain and document changes to control system configurations.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot control components such as:
- Relays, limit switches, proximity sensors, solenoids
- Servo drives, frequency inverters, linear drives
- Encoders, light controllers, and other devices
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S principles.
- Work closely with vendors and internal teams.
- Complete required safety training and follow all safety protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Vocational Certificate or Associate Degree preferred (or equivalent hands-on experience).
Experience & Skills
- 1–2+ years of experience with machinery operation or maintenance (especially automated systems).
- Basic PLC knowledge preferred but not required.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to stay organized and manage time effectively.
- Technically proficient and eager to learn and improve.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Flexibility to work various shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Willingness to be on-call, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to wear proper PPE at all times.
